“Professional work is an opportunity for constant learning and growth. With great clients and associates we do this every day.”

In 1993, Rich and Highland co-founders Marc Williams and Bill Kinde committed to serving a gap in the investment advisory marketplace. Many organizations weren’t receiving the attention they deserved in the management of their investment programs. Highland proposed to close that gap as Investor Advocates® in these markets.

Today, Highland continues to serve those markets with a year-to-year client retention rate of more than 98 percent. Rich and Marc have expanded the business to provide objective, fee-only advice to a wide range of companies, nonprofits and families, too.

“Clients and colleagues are what I most enjoy about work. Nothing is more rewarding than hearing a client say, ‘Highland is different. You really care about your clients.’”

Rich and his wife, Beth, have five adult children and two grandchildren. Because he never met his own grandparents, Rich has taken particular joy in watching four generations interact, and making memories with his kids—like the high school basketball game he attended with son Drew. “LeBron James drove down the court, and in mid-air passed the ball between his legs to slam dunk it. We stood there with our mouths wide open, stunned.”  Afterwards, Rich remarked to Beth, LeBron was “some incredible combination of Magic Johnson and Michael Jordan.”
